Coorg Offers Some Of The Most Exotic Cuisines Of The South Region And Most Hotels Have Their In-House Restaurants. Coorg Cuisine Includes A Lot Of Coconut, Curry Leaves, Ginger, Chilly And Of Course The Local Spices Grown Here. The local food of Coorg has often been said to replicate the history and geographical setting of the region. The lush, fertile valley grows an abundant quantity of rice, which makes it a staple element of Coorg cuisine. This rice, called Sannakki, is different from the usual Basmati variety you may be used to and has a fragrance that will get you drooling. Unique to Coorg, rice here is also used to make bread or Chapatti’s which are called Aaki Oti. You can try rice here in different forms, and yes, shapes, either flat like a cake, round balls like dumplings or like noodles. To accompany the staple rice preparation, the Coorg  people love to indulge in spicy, aromatic curries, with chicken, meat or pork as their main ingredient. All time favourite Pandhi Kari is a pork dish, with a gravy that is spiced up with coconut, cardamom and other condiments. Fish and crabs are also a prominent part of the daily fare, especially since the local streams nearby provide absolutely fresh seafood stuff. Vegetarians need not lose heart.There is a whole host of vegetable pulavs and steamed vegetable curries.
