Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Gonikoppal:  Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gonikoppal is a knowledge and Resource Center of Indian council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This aids developing and dissemination of location specific technologies at district level. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Gonikoppal is the first ICAR KVK in Karnataka was established on 16th December 1976 under Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru in Kodagu District. Initially it was functioning at Chettalli, under Central Horticultural Experimental Station (CHES). Later during the year 1992, the erstwhile Citrus Experimental Station, Gonikoppal activities were shifted to Chettalli and Krishi Vigyan Kendra started functioning at Gonikoppal. KVK, Gonikoppal is located in Virajpet taluk which is 50 km away from Madikeri and 92 km away from Mysore.  The centre is situated in Sub-tropical humid zone with mean temperature of the station range between 320C and 190C. The annual rainfall is 2800 mm with major precipitation during July and August. The soil is deep, dark brown, well drained sandy loam to sandy clay loam.
