3. Coorg Agri-Tourism: Agri-tourism offers the tourist many joyful experiences while living in the rural environment. Agri-tourist involvement in milching, harvesting competitions, tree climbing, edible adventure, bullock cart race, shooting a coconut target, fishing etc. could generate enormous joy at least cost. There is enough scope to charge an entry fee to farmers, providing feed and accommodation on payment basis and charging the participation of Agri-tourist during rural games would also generate income to the farmers. Interest in the natural environment: the Busy urban population is leaning towards nature. Because natural environment is always away from busy life. Birds, animals, crops, mountains, water bodies, villages provide a totally different atmosphere to urban population in which they can forget their busy urban life.
Have something for visitors to see: Animals, birds, farms and nature are the few things which Agri-tourism could offer to the tourist to see. Apart from these, culture, dress, festivals and rural games could create enough interest among forest in Agri-tourism. Occupation in Coorg: Agriculture is the District’s main economic activity. Plantations of Coffee, Pepper , Cardamom, Ginger, Tea, Arecanut, Cashew nut, Coconuts, Rubber, Palm, Orange, Honey and Anthurium flowers and paddy. Commercial poultry & Fig farming is well developed. Cottage industries for example, the processing of Coffee Powder, Pepper Powder ,Honey, Fruit Processing and Nurseries. Most of those employed by larger industrial enterprises are engaged in Coffee Curing Works ,Cofee Plantation and Fruit processing. Look out for cultivated pure coffee,pepper cardamom,orange,local mangoes,Honey,garcinia gumbigattat(kachampuli)authentic local cuisine.
